Thursday, January 2, 2014 - Immediately appealing but gets much better with air. A 75% Garnacha dominated red blend (with roughly equal parts Syrah, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon). Warm toned aromas of cranberry-pomegranate-red currant fruit and some mineral smokiness that smooths out with air time. Palate has pedigree and discipline, not all over the place like some Spanish Garnacha bombs; well structured, with vinous notes of delicate but tart red fruit, meat, smoke, ending with tannic grip and moderate length. I had this with apple wood smoked ham and left-over sage dressing. I believe it would show better with a meat that is not so sweet. Good now until 2016?
