Saturday, February 1, 2014 - Not quite as good as the bottle from just 3 months ago. As before, no sign of age, clear, with a fair amount of sediment. The nose is the star here, while the palate plays second fiddle from first glass to last glass. Creamy black currants, black cherry, a suggestion of leather, vanilla, and dark spices. The full-bodied palate suffers in two ways: the mid-palate has a whole that it can't seem to fill, and the finish is too short; tannins built for mid-term cellaring. Still, the nose and palate, while good, fell short my previous bottle, keeping this in the good as opposed to very good category. EtOH was fully resolved, and this particular bottle offered drinking through 2017. Cellared since release; cork like new. 14,9% abv
