Monday, February 24, 2014 - Was poured this blind and asked to identify the provenance...with the variety as a bonus. Immediately knew it was WA Syrah...but with nuance. The longer I lingered over the bouquet the more it showed Old World characteristics...bacon, garrigue (bramble), intense minerality, kelp, and funk. Still, the WA Syrah notes dominated. I was not surprised when the bottle was revealed as I had tasted this once before.
This is an interesting wine...I suspect in a blind tasting of Old World Syrah this could masquerade nicely. An amzing value for the quality it delivers.
