Tuesday, March 25, 2014 - Red center, browning rim. A touch of funk, but mostly secondary aromas of leather, tobacco leaf, and light herbs. Very pleasing middle weight and feel. Brown spices, coffee, and that strong tobacco/licorice core. The finish isn't perfectly clean or long. This is old fashioned, savory, complex, mature Chateauneuf without artifice. When I last tasted it in late 2012, I hoped it would last for another 3 or 4 years, and by golly, it seems to be holding at a plateau, although the less than harmonious finish may indicate that it has entered its downward slide.
