Friday, May 30, 2014 - Halfway oxidized, this had a medium-light golden color. On the nose there was a very distinct note of oak that subsided over time. On the palate this opened with ripe apricots but tasted slightly maderized at the mid-palate, being redeemed only by a stony mineral note on the finish. At 13 years old, one would expect Premier Cru Chassagne-Montrachet to be reaching peak maturity, however this tastes over-the-hill. Not sure whether to blame premox or regular ox, but I'd hurry up and drink this.
