Friday, July 4, 2014 - Opened for 2 hours. Dark purple color. Very high viscosity. Expressive nose of dark berries (blueberries, blackberries), cassis, leather, tobacco, but also some oaky notes (vanilla, chocolate). On the palate there are notes of dark berries again, leather, tobacco, menthol and sweet spices. Full-bodied and very dense, with medium+ tannin and medium acidity adding some freshness. Very long finish. A very beautiful intense full-throttle Syrah... a hypothetical blend of Northern Rhône and Barossa Valley (with slightly more Barossa character than Northern Rhône) but also freshness and structure. I would give it another 2-3 years in bottle...
