Monday, June 23, 2014 - “Merlot from a Bordeaux-perspective”-Tasting in June 2014, Flight 1, Wine 3 (blind). The wine was bright dark ruby in colour and offered blackberry, plum, coffee, spices, leather, tobacco and earthy notes on the meaty and sweet-scented nose. On the palate the wine showed blackberry, plum, coffee, leather and tobacco, joined by spicy and mildly earthy notes, paired with medium-level acidity, medium-level tannin and very good length. The medium-bodied, medium-complex wine was balanced and had good complexity. It seemed to be in its prime drinking window; drink now and enjoy.

NB: Checking my earlier tasting notes on this wine I realised that as opposed to the two bottle I had about a year ago this bottle did not show any signs of brett.
