92 Points

Thursday, August 21, 2014 - White Burgundy, C9duP and Priorat (@ PC): Janasse VV is definitely one of my favorites from C9duP, but tonight we had a somewhat disappointing bottle. In the bouquet very ripe fruits, but also vegetables like cabbage. On the palate ripe fruits as well. Herbs and spices, a lot of sweetness and juiciness, but also drying tannin. The alcohol shows a bit. I scored the wine 92, but after the bottle was revealed I was disappointed, because this wine should score a few points higher. Maybe this is my first wakeup call that also with aged C9duP you must be lucky to have a perfect bottle. (I need to keep this wine in mind.)

9/27/2014 6:44:00 PM - Hi Ibetian, I agree that my score seems generous, certainly considering I score conservative in general. This score was given at a blind tasting of (great) C9duP and Priorat. In my note I write that the wine disappoints. (Because I gave it a score of 95 on a previous occasion. And also a no score in 2011.) There must be bottle variance here. But back to the cabbage; apparently at the moment of tasting the other flavors were so dominating that the cabbage was not so very disturbing. I see that you had a very disappointing bottle and I hope you have another one which shows better. And ok, I am only human, so maybe I was too generous. I do not have any of this myself, but I hope to taste this wine again
