Saturday, October 18, 2014 - This one effectively straddled the line between fruit bomb and savory syrah goodness. Started out a bit tight, featuring primarily a red-fruited profile. Air helped reveal dark, black fruit and berries, milk chocolate and bacon fat. The mouthfeel was incredibly silky, and overall, the structure was present enough to keep this from being overblown. Certainly a crowd-pleaser kind of wine, but a nice guilty pleasure too. Can be enjoyed sans food; also made a very tasty pairing with portobellos stuffed with Italian sausage.
