Thursday, December 18, 2014 - Nose shows typical & classical Bordeaux, rather fresh, with green herbs, green peppers, licorice, spice, cedar wood, cigar box, tobacco leafs, dust, dry leather, barnyard & pencil lead.
The nose started out very fine, but fell off a bit with more time and air in the glass, and lost some of its initial punch.
Palate shows high acidity, with dry and fading cassis fruit & red berries, some tobacco and greener notes.
I get the feeling that this is a little past peak and on its way down, since the fruit it beginning to fall off and the acidity are taking over.
However, need to keep in mind that this is a 1996, with rather high acidity from start, so might just going thru a transition phase?
