Thursday, November 19, 2015 - BB tasting at 360 Bistro. Terrific nose just beginning to show. Lot's of stuff here but needs a little time. Drink 2020-2030.

The only thing in the CT database for this wine lists it as Domaine Robert Arnoux / Arnoux-Lachaux. The label of this bottling has no reference to Robert Arnoux, just Domaine Arnoux-Lachaux.

2/8/2017 5:29:00 AM - Domaine Robert Arnoux was renamed to Arnoux-Lacheaux after Pascal Lachaux, Robert's son in law fully took over. The French being the Macho French, he could obviously not resist to amend the company's name with his name. Beats me, like if Nike, Apple or BMW would change their name every time there is a new CEO... Ridiculous, btw, shame about their new, ugly label too, since 2007.

Chateau Latour, Chateau Margaux both changed hands too in the last century, yet the name remained. Why do you think Romanee-Conti trumps everybody in Burgundy today, besides that their wine is fabulous?
    1. Never changed the name
    2. Never even fiddled with the label (new Arnoux-Lachaux label is so ugly)
    3. Dont make cheap village wine to dilute the brand

So simple, but then hey, everyone is entitled to make un-smart decision with the assets he builds/inherits... I am just calling them out.

It's unfortunate Arnoux did not have an heir, or anyone with the same name to take over the family business. For me, Arnoux-Lachaux strikes a nice balance between the history of the estate, present, and future, as Lachaux's son Charles is already a big part of what's going on there now.
