Saturday, January 30, 2016 - Dead ringer for Mugnier Chambolle upon opening. Sour red cherry fruit but some richness, touch of oak and earth, dried herbs but with a hint of austerity and acidity that is very French. This wine, from a mediocre vintage, totally sold me on Rhys and they are killing it in this style. With air, got a touch richer and sweeter and belied its California heritage, but a memorable bottle in several ways. Medium weight, medium intensity, light to medium finish, complete. Drink or hold.
