Friday, April 8, 2016 - This wine is clear & deep purplish in color. The aroma as I was aerating was moderate with earthy aromas and hints of blackberry and mushroom. Was tight when I first tasted despite aerating with a marked sense of tannins but opened up by the next day. The wine is medium-full bodied, well balanced; texture was complex being smooth but with a fresh kick on the finish which was medium in length. Picked up flavors of blackberry and chocolate. As this was medium aged when I tasted after opening up the tannins were soft, smooth and round. I had it with veggie rice which was a neutral pairing, and then I continued it enjoy sipping after dinner. I am a Merlot fan and this wine did not disappoint.
