Sunday, April 24, 2016 - Opaque purple color turning violet at the rim with a reflective edge. The nose is rich and complex with ripe dark fruits, chocolate, exotic spices, and mineral-filled earth. The palate is bold, structured, full-bodied, densely concentrated with a thick fleshy texture. Flavors of blueberries, blackberries, black olives, red and black peppercorns, smoke and graphite. Finishes long and intense with hints of dried herbs. This wine often receives lower-than-deserved ratings, but all it really needs is time to evolve in the bottle. Ten years ought to do it. Drink now with a 30-minute decant until 2026.
