Tuesday, June 21, 2016 - Opened a half bottle tonight for our anniversary dinner (along with a half bottle of 2002 Phelps Insignia). Wonderful Bordeaux nose with fruit, cedar, leather, and vanilla. Delineated, pure fruit: blackberry and cassis with more cherry than I expected. Superb length. Sweet tannins. Silky, silky texture. Refreshing acidity that keeps you reaching for your glass. Nearly perfect wine. Everything in balance. Fully mature (perhaps because of the half bottle). Beat out the Insignia, but not a fair comparison: apples and oranges.
