Monday, September 5, 2016 - Tasted against '12 Schrader Old Sparky, '12 Pott Turf War and '12 Vineyard 29 Estate. Came in #1 - WOTN. Consumed over 10 hours. Dynamic and complex nose of licorice, liqueur, black/blue fruit, tobacco, fresh flowers and pencil shavings. Intense and mind blowing. Really dark fruit. Layers of earthy, mineral driven flavors hit the pallet in waves with a multidimensional mouthfeel. Fine grained and sweet tannins hold a firm backbone of structure. Full bodied mid pallet and incredibly long and pure on the finish of over 45secs. You can tell there is a lot of Prichard Hill going on here. An absolute stunner. 98+

9/6/2016 5:35:00 AM - Jeezus you know how to party on a holiday. Nice lineup. A little bummed the Pott and Vineyard 29 Cabernets got pummeled; however, considering the lineup, that's to be expected. I suppose the bigger bummer would've been if Sparky and Tusk were in the bottom... Nice notes as always!

9/6/2016 7:07:00 AM - It was quite a day. There was a very clear quality difference between Tusk/Sparky and Pott/Vineyard 29. We went back and forth a bit with Tusk/Sparky on which was better, but it wasn't even close with the others. We did think if you opened them without the side by side, they would've made us very happy. I mean in reality, it's hard to get any better than Tusk & Schrader IMO, so that was some stiff competition.

9/6/2016 7:15:00 AM - Maybe you can answer a question about something on CT. I think about 20 times I've had a "new fan", look at their profile and find they just signed up, have no wine, haven't posted any notes, and then they disappear. What is that?

9/6/2016 8:00:00 AM - I get those fan requests all of the time. I'm not a computer guy, but it certainly seems like spam or phishing of some sort. I always block/ignore those random requests when there is no other attempt to contact (via comments, etc), and the profile is empty or has some nonsensical garbage in it. Sometimes their profiles are even in full-blown Russian or some Slavic type language, and with Japanese anime photos. I'm no Einstein, but I'm pretty sure not many Napa Cabs. are being reviewed by Chechen or Uzbek rebels. I would just ignore/block them.

Sinegal Winery did a "fan-blast" once on CT when they first started in an attempt to build a fan base. It didn't go over well with a number of other CT-ers.

Some folks believe that certain wineries develop alias profiles just to post high scores on their own wines. I don't doubt it, as I've seen some questionable profiles that just spit out a 100 point review of one or two of the same winery's wines, and then never post anything else again.

9/6/2016 10:17:00 AM - With the power of CT to influence buying behavior now, I wouldn't at all be surprised if wineries had their people push up the scores. Thanks for the insight -- I do think it's phishing of some sort. Good idea to block.
