Tuesday, September 6, 2016 - Deep, almost inky color. Dense on the palate with lots of dark fruit, earth, a bit of wood and something meaty. More in the style of a southern France mourvedre rather than a lean northern Rhone Syrah. Dry, medium bodied, dense structure and medium tannins. Good intensity and a good, long finish. This is plenty of wine for the bucks, but not really the style I want from northern Rhone as I think it lacks the spices and refreshing acidity that I one can find in this style of Syrah.
