Friday, September 23, 2016 - Medium (+) ruby with garnet hues. The nose is clean, youthful, with red fruit, black fruit and some floral aromas. The palate is dry, with medium (+) acidity, medium (+) tannins and high alcohol. The palate is consistent with the nose. This strikes me as more of a food wine than a cocktail wine, and as a wine that could benefit from further aging. It certainly has the structure to last several more years. It is a steal at $12 at Costco, and punches several classes above its price point. Having said that, I am not a big fan of Carignane/Mazuelo and I don't think this Carignane/Syrah/Grenache blend will ever be as interesting as one with Mourvedre aka Monastrell aka Mataro.
