Saturday, January 19, 2008 - Decanted 1 hour before tasting. Cloudy, unfiltred. Colour shows first signs of aging. Opens with a slightly off-putting nose of cold tea and wet wood. But after a half-an-hour of extra air-time it is unfolding a very complex bouquet of milkchocolade, cherry, just a whiff of barnyard, licorice, blood, cinnamon, cloves. Kept on reminding me of a good beefstew! Intriguing wine which kept me coming back for more. Totally a point. 17/20.
My impression is that there is a lot of bottle variation. Had this one 2 or 3 times before and none were the same or even comparable. This one was the best till now. The rest seemed to suffer from early aging/oxidation.
