95 Points

Tuesday, January 3, 2017 - Out of maybe 25-30 aged Champagnes I've tasted in the past 10 years - admittedly not so many, and many more pricey - this one was no question the best. I think this can be attributed to this wine being in the perfect place. It was fully developed, golden and tertiary and well-sherried, also showing ripe fruit, all kept in line by an austere mineral backbone. The pro reviews said this one might blossom and boy did it ever. YMMV - maybe my bottle just dodged all the hazards that can happen along the way. But it easily topped many Dom's and Krug's and others down the ladder from there. Complex in the way that makes you want to slow down over a glass and sniff for an hour, but also so swig-able the bottle dissappeared pretty quickly.
