Wednesday, February 22, 2017 - This is an outstanding NZ Bordeaux not really appreciated around the country because its a relatively small vineyard and most do not spend $50 a bottle. However I discovered this vineyard on a biking trip many years ago and have purchased dozens of the years including their Pinot Gris which the ladies really enjoy. The Gold Label Cab Merlot is up there with the top Bordeaux's in NZ. 2013 was a superb vintage for the Gimblett Gravels so I have a number of bottles. This is the first and comes with lots of plum and tannins, and although a pleasure to drink already after some breathing, I expect the tannins will continue to soften so that another 5 - 8 years of cellaring will be rewarding. That's my plan.
