Sunday, April 9, 2017 - Decanted from magnum about 3 hours (definitely had a positive effect, but PnP is an option). Exceeded expectations, bringing aroma and palate complexity even though it looked inky and brooding in the glass compared to the preceding light and beautiful '99 Lambrays. Tarry, earthy, licorice and dark berries on the nose and following through with matching flavors. Yet this wine accomplished an elegance and felt lighter than color and palate persistence hinted at. Gritty soft tannins and a good dose of acidity still in play. Great with the NY strips.
