Thursday, June 8, 2017 - Elegant vacqueyras - definitely the lighter side of S. Rhone. Attractive rosemary, garrigue, and meat on the nose. Medium palate, with good purity of black fruits coming through - plum, ripe fig. Meaty (iron, blood, but not really bacon) and herbaceous in a good way. Moderately grippy tannins. No heat poking through. Went superbly with venison.
