Saturday, June 17, 2017 - RRP $100.00AU am i crazy !!! sometimes I think so, but I didn't pay $100.00AU so, not so crazy.
Is it worth $100.00 ? sadly once again I answer no.
I have tasted a couple of Allegiance wines The Artisan, 2012,2015,from memory around $60.00AU rrp. and found these wines just as good if not, better, in many respects.
Then I saw a stratospheric rating of 98 points ...wow!1 is there something wrong with my taste buds? probably , they are dying just like me , but hey it was nice to open the first bottle of this wine and I will come back in 6 months when I open the second .
Okay, the wine, alcohol ever present on the nose, and I hope this dissipates with age.
Light oak, meaty,a touch of red earth....maybe .
On the tongue it's slightly astringent and stalky at the front, some fruit on the middle, a light well balanced tannin to the sides.
Medium weight of fruit, medium to heavy bodied.
Likely to improve over the next 5 years and maybe it will fulfill it's promise
I rate it 95 points, the web page has stalled and I can't for the moment add anything else in any other column .

Okay, I came back to this wine after decanting and aerating for a day and the alcohol had been driven off revealing a more deeply fruited wine than my first taste, hence the extra point.
At this stage I suggest decant, aerate and leave for a few hours at least to let it find it's feet.
