Thursday, June 22, 2017 - This was one of the more complex and fascinating syrahs I've had in a while. I think 5 years ago I might not have appreciated this flavor profile, but after being immersed in the worlds of craft beers and craft cocktails, I really like this wine. The juicy and sweet berry fruit plays almost a supporting role while the wine is has wonderful bitter herbaceousness, smoke, peppercorn, a subtle funkiness, with just a hint of sour fruits. Definitely a combination I like in my cocktails. There's even a hint of floral notes (violet maybe?) to add even more complexity.

3/26/2019 9:23:00 PM - Thanks! Some people ask me if I frown upon beers or cocktails since I drink wine, and for me, it's been the exact opposite. Wine, beers, whisky, cocktails have opened my eyes and made me excited to explore new and interesting styles and flavor combinations.
