Saturday, October 8, 2005 - It is one thing to drink a wine that cost over $300 and find it great, but totally another when its just under $60. Lovely expressive aromas of what could only be a Rioja: blood, meat and minerals. Wonderful balance and structure, with now fully integrated tannins, that though soft, will soften further with more age. Big and concentrated in the mouth, with lovely and even refreshing fruitiness, offering a similar array of flavors as offered throughout the aromas: blood, meat, pepper and more. Very Rioja, and even traditional in style. Elegant with power. Huge finish with a superb aftertaste. Drinking fantastically now, but can hold for at least five more years if not longer. Great example of a Rioja just starting to show some maturity. All for less than $60. wow.

12/6/2023 7:01:00 AM - Excellent TN! And I agree completely with your sentiment.
I just got my auction bargain of this wine at $27. Hoping it is as good as your suggestions. As a lover of Rioja and this brand, I'm not expecting to be disappointed. I even enjoyed their ace-of-a-poor-vintage-1992 the other night.
