Saturday, March 15, 2008 - dark purple color. the nose on this wine is gorgeous, even after being opened for only three hours. vanilla leads the way, but there's also blackberries, currants, toast and a bit of mint. rich on the palate, but i was surprised by how approachable this was. very silky with round tannins and a gorgeous, plush mouthfeel. blackberry, currant, coffee, smoke and vanilla fountain soda. the fruit is lush and pure, like right from the farmer's market. and the oak accentuates it, it doesn't overpower it. this is a great effort that i imagine will be more expressive in a few years.
