95 Points

Thursday, August 31, 2017 - 14,5% alcohol.

Quite concentrated, deep honeyed yellow color with bright lime-green hue. Incredibly complex, attractive and nicely developed nose with intense and even somewhat robust aromas of baking pices, toasty nuttiness, dried pineapple, ripe apricot, some hay, a little bit of apple purée and a boozy hint of alcohol. The wine is concentrated, very full-bodied and oily on the palate with very ripe and sweet flavors of red apple, pronounced nectarine, piercing mineral flavors of steel and wet stones, beeswax, some roasted nuts and spices, a little bit of hay, a hint of cantaloupe, a touch of apple purée and a delicate undertone of bitterness. Although the wine is heavy, somewhat sweet and really powerful, it still, paradoxically, comes across as lighter and more elegant than Massa's Derthona 2015 and Costa del Vento 2015, tasted alongside. The finish is very powerful, concentrated and even very slightly grippy with a hint of tannic bite. There are vibrant and intense flavors of apple purée, peach, very noticeable nectarine character, steely minerality and wet stones, some hay, a little bit of roasted almonds, a hint of cloudberry jam and a hint of baking spice in the aftertaste. Although the wine is very concentrated with very big body, its high - almost racy - acidity carries along beautifully from the initial attack to the last lingering hints of the aftertaste.

A stunning, impressively and very concentrated example of Timorasso, that is starting to show the first signs of development, yet is still very youthful and primary - just beginning its voyage to the plateau of maturity! Despite its almost monolithic character, the wine isn't too heavy nor at all flabby, but instead very bright, fresh and harmonious, carrying its concentrated fruit with remarkable ease. The greatest Timorasso I've tasted this far and I can imagine the wine can attain even higher score as it ages. Pricey at 45€, but still worth the money. Very highly recommended.

3/11/2019 2:58:00 PM - great note, great wine. I had the chance to attend a tasting experience with Mr Massa with Sterpi and Costa del Vento over 5 different vintages and confirm that ageing can do magics to Timorasso
