Tuesday, October 3, 2017 - Big, oaky and packs a tannic punch. A full throttled wine that needs more time in the bottle or an extensive decant. Soften a little after 3 hours, but could never get through the wall of tannins to experience the fruit. Will try again tomorrow after being opened over night.

No question this is a big, powerful and complex wine - but I prefer a little more integration and balance in the tannic structure and fruit flavors. Something was missing for me, but I gave it 88 points because it is clearly a special wine, although, as a 2011 I thought it should be further evolved. How was your experience with the wine?

10/7/2017 6:46:00 PM - I've been holding off. I really liked the 2011 Bedrock Saitone and have one bottle left. Carlisle and Bedrock do many of the same vineyards. I find the Bedrocks need more time. Morgan likes the vineyard field blends, Mike Officer goes with a much higher percentage of Zinfandel. So I usually wait longer for the Bedrocks.
That said, I think I'll try one in the next few weeks. I had three, my daughter had the only we've opened. My turn, I guess.
