Tuesday, October 10, 2017 - Medium-dark crimson color. With some aeration, the nose really blooms: mint, potpourri, rosemary, blueberry pie, and flint. The palate starts brooding, with black fruit and currant flavors. This turns astringent at midpalate, with grainy tannins. There is a lingering finish of black slate. The nose shows a lot of promise, but the palate is still constricted by tannins and somewhat disjointed. I'd give this another 3-5 years to improve in the cellar.
