2014 Ridge Cabernet Sauvignon Estate

Community Tasting Note

Saturday, November 11, 2017 - The fruit here is much riper than I would expect from a Ridge estate Cabernet, and the oak is prominent. Purple fruits with cherry accents, sweet herbs, spice and tobacco showed on the nose. On the palate, it was silky in texture with concentrated black fruits, plum verging on prune with a sweet herbal mix. Brisk acidity and a bit of green tannin showed on the finish. I wanted more austerity here, but this vintage came across as very ripe. Considering the notes from other tasters here, I'll keep my mind open to tasting again.

11/11/2017 4:07:00 PM - I've tasted this several times and IMO it needs at least five years and probably 10 to come together unfortunately. The pieces seem to be there for something really good down the road.
