Saturday, January 13, 2018 - I've been drinking from coravin this week. Dark brownish/purple color, nose of earth & dried fruit. The wine starts nicely, but fades quickly in glass. Fruit is mostly dissipated, and the wine demonstrates mostly tertiary qualities. A nice table wine for mid-week sipping. I truly believe the coravin does NOT preserve wines for as long as advertised--this wine has slipped in the 3 times I've tasted it this past week.

Maybe it is a quirk of particular corks, or maybe we left the needle in too long, or maybe just hit a bad spot. So I tend to agree with you but still not sure if it is across the board or isolated.

So at least in this case the spot probably was created pulling at that time.
    Will have to keep monitoring.

A critical tip is to push the argon gas button right before using the device to clear as much air out of the system and needle before inserting the needle in the bottle. Further, I leave the bottle upright for 24 hours after Coravinning which reduces leakage almost completely by giving the cork a chance to fully reseal. These are tips from other Coravin users which have improved my outcomes. Finally, I generally only Coravin wines on the upside of their lives, for which a little air will help not hurt. For me that is 1995 and younger Bordeaux and post 2000 of other types of wine. I hope these tips help!
