2004 is considered to be a structured vintage, and the same can be said about Barolo from Monforte. So it was no surprise to see that this wine has a great structure and beautiful intensity, but not a lot of complexity. It is definitely not floral, and its notes show more dark than red fruit - I found blackberry, black cherries and a bit of blackcurrant, with almost no tertiary flavors. It can definitely still improve, but I don't think it will ever achieve greatness. Lacks elegance. 93pts tops for now.

2/6/2018 3:38:00 PM - I have never had a vintage from Aldo Conterno I have really liked. Although Conterno is on record saying his wines should be consumed from 10 to 15 years after the vintage, everything I drank in this range (or younger) seemed not to be ready. So i can't really say.
I have in my cellar other Romirasco wines from 2004, 2008 and 2010, and also a Granbussia 2006. But I'm not drinking them until they reach at least 15 years.
