Friday, May 2, 2008 - Presented in double-blind fashion to our tasting group. The wine was taken from my cellar, decanted (moderate sediment) and aerated in the decanter at home for approximately four hours. The wine was then double-decanted back into the cleaned bottle and brought to the tasting. My tasting (unlike that of all other tasters) was accordingly unblinded. Bright disc. Opaque ruby robe with ruby rim. Clean nose, developing over several hours to show a quite intense bouquet of exotic spices, black plums, currants and creme de cassis. Full-bodied on the palate, with low-to-medium intensity and big ripe tannins. The flavors are youthful and mirror the nose. Long, smooth finish. Very nice and extremely well-received by the blinded tasters. Will benefit from additional time in bottle. Drink 1/12-12/25.
