Saturday, April 21, 2018 - Recent vintages of Paitin's Barbaresco Serra seem to have an uncanny knack to be quite traditional in style yet accessible when young. The 2011 is no different. Mid-palate featured red raspberry, mint, and a touch of clove, followed by enduring notes of iron and underbrush. The tannins were muscular and well-integrated. The warmth of the vintage showed a bit in the modest acidity and subdued aromatics (even after a lot of air), but the wine was still elegant and totally balanced.
