Tuesday, June 19, 2018 - Cork good, only one or two mils of wine creep at the base of the cork. No unsavoury odours . Decanted through a fine cloth, surprisingly little sediment. Allowed to breath for an hour. Clear at the edges, then a layer of fragmented crimson, then a layer of crumbling red, then dense red/black. Swirl, sniff and sip. Integrated flavours of cherries, ripe plums, coconut, caramel, leather, milk chocolate and vanilla bean. Fine tannins and light acid there but held in check by the combination of fruit and wood. Medium body weight, good mouth feel and nice length. Likely over the peak but still drinking pretty close to the summit. Delicious. All in all, holding up really well for a fifteen year old wine. 92+.
