Friday, June 22, 2018 - Hourglass: Fun to check out and debate-about from an educational perspective, this wine was brought out by our gracious host primarily for that exact purpose. Specific notes typical of those 2011 Napa Cabs I’ve had before. Black and red currant, red bell pepper, poblano pepper, juniper, and earth. A bitter floral note emerged as well.

I’m not an automatic wet blanket when it comes to the 2011 vintage and Napa Cabernet. But I have very few references from that vintage that hold much relevancy and interest for me. Those that are “good,” are still light years behind other vintages by comparison. Why invest in 2011 when EVERY other vintage surrounding it is better? For me, it’s obviously a rhetorical question. For others, they just can’t have a gap in their precious verticals I suppose. God bless ‘em...
