Community Tasting Note

Wednesday, August 8, 2018 - Nose is the most elegant and delicate compared to 2000 and 1999, sour cherries, hints of smoked fennel, toasted figs and seasoned leather. Need very little decanting to open up the nose. Palate is soft and balanced with ripe red fruits, licorice and dash of refreshing acidity as the core structure. Although it is light to medium-bodied in the mid-palate, it is not thin or sharp. Surprisingly, the finish has some degree of attack and lingers for a while. Tannins are so fine and well integrated. At its peak now, will probably hold for another 2-3 years if stored well.

8/27/2018 2:48:00 AM - Hi Psdycp, thanks for sharing your note. I agree with your note, except that I consumed the wine over two days and decanted it for about six hours in between, and the wine just kept getting better and better. So I think the 1998 has a very long life ahead... Cheers!

8/27/2018 5:55:00 AM - Thanks for letting me know, much appreciated! I had the 1998 and the 2000 recently (liked both, with a preference for the 2000 for drinking now and for the 1998 for future potential), but have not tried the 1999 yet. Will try to find a few bottles and put them in a lineup!
