Monday, August 13, 2018 - Really a pleasant surprise. Nicely balanced with a real Bordeaux (left bank) style. Medium garnet color with a woody, earthy nose. Nice balance of earth, sage, oak and sweet fruit. Medium bodied with a medium finish. Benziger does a nice job with their upper end wines. The surprise factor here is that this is a 2011, a notoriously tough vintage. This is the first 2011 I have tasted that hasn’t had a green, vegetal bent to it. Nicely done.
