Thursday, May 29, 2008 - Now mind you, I don't have much to base this off of, as I have never had a Lafite before, but I have to say, this was really good, especially for a so called off-vintage. We weren't really expecting much but this really surprised us. Popped the cork and it was in absolute perfect condition, to the point where I wondered if this was recorked at the winery. It was absolutely perfect. Dark garnett center leading to a pinkish color around the rim. Nose of Leather, farm and lead pencil (so many people say this, and I could smell it, but I didn't really say anything until my wife said that she should smell it, as I didn't want to influence her in any way.) Just a wonderful wine all around, still somehwat powerful, and it evolved beautifully over the next two hours to include unsmoked cigar and slight cedar on the nose. Tannins were very well integrated and the finish was long. Good wine.
