Friday, August 31, 2018 - Decanted for about 1 hour but could have used more time - or better yet don't open for another five years. Before committing to buying more Levet, I wanted to taste and see if it was in my wheelhouse - otherwise would not have opened at this stage - proved to be a worthy experiment. This is in that meaty, funky rustic style of Northern Rhone that I really enjoy. On the nose this is dark fruited and funky. On the palate dark fruits, grilled meats and olive tapenade - still lots of tannin here to resolve but it was not without its pleasures at this young age. Conclusion - a producer to add to collection at this price point and cellar for at least 10 years before consumption.
