Saturday, November 5, 2005 - 1:30 in the afternoon. After having received the wine which I bought, I just had to open one to see what all the excitement is about. No decanting - in the glass a strong nose of grenache fumes. As it settled, I detected cherries, red berries and chinese tea? (never had that before) and smoke. The tannins were present but not overwhelming. As the wine sat over the cource of the afternoon it kept evolving and developing more nuances. When we finally finished it at dinner, with roast duck, it was just unbelieveable how such a young wine could be drinking so well. This should be really great as it evolves and becomes a mature then older wine. I kept about 1/4 glass out on the table as the evening unfolded. The wine changed completely. The longer it sat the more tanic it became. Around 8:00 pm my wife remarked that it had turned into a tanic mess. I finished it at 9:00 and it had shut down and displayed none of the charasterics which it had when we first opened it.
