Friday, October 5, 2018 - (Decanted for one hour.) The color of this wine has not budged much from its original deep purple with crimson highlights. It has an explosive nose of blackberry and strawberry preserves, lavender, thyme, espresso, and cured meats. Full bodied and mouth coating, it has saturated flavors of blackberry, crushed herbs, chocolate, mushroom and beef fond. There is considerable purity to these flavors, due to perfect ripeness, abundant tangy acidity and silky supportive tannins. And this purity of flavor extends through the nearly one minute finish. Though the wine may merit an even higher score in a few years, it can be drunk with pleasure now and over the next two decades. 98+ points.
