Friday, October 26, 2018 - I opened the bottle about 3 hours ago and let it sit, drinking now at room temp of 73f. Perhaps too warm for Pinot but on a fall night watching the World Series, seemed like a good fit. At this serving temp, some wines might fail as the warts come out at this temp, especially Pinot Noir (at least in my view). No warts here. This is moderately plush, with juicy black and red qualities, mainly a dark raspberry and some red apple too. The stemmy quality from my 2017 bottles is virtually gone, leaving behind a nice floral component on the aromatics. Hell, the nose could fool me a for a bit of Syrah, as much as the 2017 bottle did and my TN speaks to from back then, too. A cool, juicy spine of tangy acidity cuts through the wine but with little tannin imprint, making the wine drink well now. Aging this further doesn’t to me add anything to this wine so my advice is to enjoy now. I have one left, I will share it with friends in 2019 I suspect. Delicious.
