Saturday, November 17, 2018 - Had to choose among young wines at a fundraiser - was fortunate to enjoy this quite approachable bottle over several leisurely hours. As expected, the tannins were strong but not overpowering on the nose and were balanced well with sweet red (notably strawberry) and black fruits. The body was medium weight, with structured, fine tannins that softened up rather quickly (an hour), and helped along nicely with a steak dinner. The fruits were on the sweeter side, typical for a Neipperg family product; and the finish was pleasant and moderately dry.
This was a deftly made Merlot blend. I'd expect it to start peaking at 6-7 years of age.
