Palate: Cocoa powder/bitter chocolate, dried sour cherries, cinnamon & clove, black pepper. Tannins are present - rather like the skin on a slightly underripe red plum. Not a tannic - eating chalk experience. Tannins only dry out the middle of the tongue. Also don't taste a whole lot of alcohol. I only get the alcohol when I do a bad, slorpy inhale across a mouthful - which normally results in choking cough and spitting out the whole lot. Not very attractive.
