Monday, December 3, 2018 - NobleRottersSydney - Wines under $30 (360 Bar & Dining, Sydney): {screwcap, 13.5%} [David] A bit developed; or at least not immediately primary in character. Malt, liquorice, currants. Some mint too. Lavish black-fruited palate, still quite oaky, and full-bodied. Medium gritty/dusty tannins; big initial impression on the tongue but tails off a bit on the palate; medium length finish at best, and with some warmth about it, despite the modest alcohol. Still from the more-is-more school of winemaking; I have the sense the style has lightened up in the second decade this century; this is more of a look-back to the 20th century style. Not entirely convincing for me (bearing in mind typical pricing), but another decade in the cellar might help.
