Monday, January 14, 2019 - The nose is reticent with hints of dark fruit and purple flowers. on the palate, this is a dark saturated wine with well aged and rounded tannins. The depth of fruit and the modest wood treatment allow the two varietals (syrah and petite syrah) to shine. There's dark berry, black plum, spice, and a hint of licorice. this wine has a wonderful mouthfeel and linearity that leads to a long finish. there's an opulence here that comes from the ripe dense fruit that gets integrated with the tannins over time. There's a seemingly perfect ripeness to the fruit, yet it's not over the top or jammy.
It's drinking fabulously right now........but can easily handle a few more years in the cellar.
