90 Points

Wednesday, January 16, 2019 - PnP. An old vine field blend of traditional Portuguese varieties. Beautiful port-like nose of sweet fruit, cedar and tobacco. On the palate, this is dark and concentrated, starting out very fruity and oaky,a bit unbalanced. However, at the two hour slow ox mark, this is starting to sing. This is a serious wine that benefits from food with layers of red and black fruit, smoke, graphite, some delicate Asian spices, strong acidity, vanilla, wood and chalky, slightly bitter tannins. Medium- long finish. I think this has tons of potential that will likely reward with more time. I definitely don’t see the 95 Wine Enthusiast rating right now, but not saying this couldn’t get there with more patience.
