Wednesday, July 9, 2008 - Very clear medium deep ruby. Spicy, pine wood notes and blackberry dominate the nose, but the wood recedes to some extent as it opens. Medium weight with strong acidity accompanying the black fruit and anise. Here, the fruit is deep enough to buffer the structure and wood and give the wine a bit of roundness and flesh. Could probably benefit from a few years in bottle to soften and harmonize a bit, but good basic Rioja now.
